The wooden church of the holy prophet Elijah belongs to Univ Holy Dormition Lavra of the Studite Rite.
The monastery in this area was built at the end of August 1935.  With metropolitan Andrei Sheptytskyi and hegumen Klymentii Sheptytskyi’s blessing and upon Bishop Hruhoii Khomyshyn’s consent, three Studite monks came to the Dora village from Univ Lavra.  The couple of educators from Lviv, Illia and Ivanna Kukurudzky donated two houses and the adjacent to the monastery land. In one of the premises a chapel was established. Later, during 1937-1938 a church was built.
After the Second World War ended, the Soviet authorities repressed the Ukrainian Greek Catholic clergy. The monastery was closed, and the monks were forced to seek shelter with the locals. In 1968 the temple was turned into a museum of atheism. In 1990 the church was returned to the Studites, who restored and renovated the monastery.

On March 15, 2014 the architectural gem of Yaremche district burned down; the unique shrine was restored in almost previous forms in just nine months. On October 18, 2015, the shrine was consecrated. The new temple is larger than its predecessor and is built away from the road.
