The Church of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary is the authentic showpiece of the Velykyi Bereznyi district, a monument of the Boikos-style wooden architecture. The church was built in the village of Sianky of the Turka district in the Lviv region in 1645, and was moved to its current location, the village of Kostryno, in 1703. Over the course of its existence, the church didn’t undergo any radical changes, however, in 1761, a framework bell tower over the narthex was added to the building, which somewhat disturbed the architectural balance and gave the church certain features of the Lemkos style. The church is 15 meters long, 7 meters wide and, along with its tower, 14 meters high from the foundation. The temple is built of spruce beams with no nails used. Inside, there’s a preserved original iconostasis dating from 1645, as well as gilded holy cups and two Gospels books of 1691 and 1871. Today’s Church of the Intercession belongs to the Orthodox eparchy and has been renamed to the Kostrynskyi Monastery.
