The church of the Holy Spirit is the oldest wooden church in the Volovets district and belongs to Verkhovyna masterpieces. The temple was built in the 17th century. It is made of fir logs and bases on the river stone foundation. The church is slender and proportionate, the walls above the attic and the roofs are covered with shingles, and the tower with a baroque completion is covered with oak shingles. For quite a long time the church was closed and it was called the ‘Museum of atheism’, which gave a chance to preserve the original interior and iconostasis of 1784.
Next to the church there is a slender 8 meters high bell tower, built of the same material as the temple. There are also two ancient stone crosses near the church.
The shrine was restored in 1970-1971, but from 1998 to 1001 the building dilapidated, as the shingles had rotted and it rained inside. At the end of 2001 with great efforts of the community the roofs and long terraces were covered with new shingles, but the log were affected by fungus and rotted in some places.
The Huklyva Chronicle, a Transcarpathian chronicle describing events of 1660-1812, was written in the church of Holy Spirit.
